Sir,
Referring to your telegram of the 7th ul↑ izo informing the late Consul-Gemral Bir E. Frazer
that the death sentence passed by the Judge of His Majesty's Supreme Court for China on Abdul Jaber had been commuted to one of pomal servitude
for life, I have the homur to trammit herewith copy of correspondence, as marked in the margin, that has passed between this office and the Governor of Hongkong relative to the question of the place whore the sente me should be served.
It will be seen that His Excellency does not
comider it desirable that the prisomer should be sent to Hongkong to serve his sentere in Victoria Geol.
I have the honour, therefore, to suggest that His Excellency the Viceroy of India should be asked whether Abdul Jabar can be sent to
India to serve his senteme.there.
